Jersey Mike's Subs Opens 1st Redondo Beach Location
Owners Celebrate With Free Sub Fundraiser
Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Redondo Beach on December 10. Franchise owners Garen Khodaverdian and Artie Maidman held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, December 10 to Sunday, December 21 to support the Surfrider Foundation and Redondo Union High School Athletic Department.
The new restaurant, located at 561 North Pacific Coast Highway, circulated 5,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to the Surfrider Foundation or Redondo Union High School Athletic Department. To enhance the fundraising efforts, additional coupon flyers are being distributed. For each coupon redeemed, Jersey Mike’s will donate $2 to the respective organization.
“Redondo Beach is a perfect spot for us to open our doors in the South Bay,” said Maidman. “We feel bringing the Jersey Mike’s brand here will serve the customers and community in a positive way. At Jersey Mike’s, we aim to make a difference by supporting local organizations so we’ve teamed up with the Surfrider Foundation and Redondo Union High School Athletic Department. By supporting these community partners, we are able to give back to our customers in a meaningful way.
Maidman is also a high school volleyball coach and takes every opportunity to work with high school athletic programs. He has a special appreciation for both local South Bay high schools, Mira Costa and Redondo Union, whose volleyball programs regularly rank amongst the top in the nation.
“As a Redondo Beach local, I’m very excited to open shop here,” Khodaverdian said. “Every location we open has its charm, but bringing Jersey Mike’s so close to home is a truly unique and fun opportunity.”
Khodaverdian and Maidman are exemplary Jersey Mike’s franchise owners who share the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. A 2014 Technomic report ranked Jersey Mike’s in the top five fastest-growing restaurant chains with sales above $200 million.
The growth is fueled by passionate Jersey Mike’s fans who crave their subs made Mike’s Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of “the juice” – red wine vinegar and olive oil blended to perfection. Jersey Mike’s premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, piled high on in-store baked bread and served up with a helping of neighborly banter from a dedicated and high-energy team.
This is the fourth Jersey Mike’s location for Khodaverdian and Maidman. In March 2009, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Hawthorne. The pair also owns locations in Torrance and El Segundo.
The Redondo Beach location’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this location directly at (310) 374-4900.
