Next week, Jersey Mike’s Subs opens its 19th store in New Jersey. This newest addition is in Lakewood, less than 10 miles from the company’s original restaurant. Jersey Mike’s, which started in Point Pleasant in 1956, will celebrate its ties to the Jersey Shore when the company holds a grand opening on Wed., Nov. 12.

To mark the grand opening, the store, located at 1195 Route 70 (at Airport Rd), will host a 5-day fundraiser to benefit the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Customers who bring in a related coupon, distributed through local newspapers and the mail, and donate $1 to the charity, receive a free regular sub from Wed., Nov. 12 through Sun., Nov. 16. Additionally, Jersey Mike’s will collect non-perishable food items for the FoodBank through Sat., Nov. 15.

“Jersey Mike’s Subs are now found across the country but we are never prouder then when a shop opens in our home territory,” said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems. “The Jersey Shore is where our story began and, to show our gratitude for our loyal and enthusiastic customers here, we are giving away a free sub to anyone who brings in a coupon and donates $1 to this important local organization.” From the beginning, giving back to the communities served has been a guiding principal at Jersey Mike’s.
