Jersey Mike’s Subs will officially open its doors in Chardon next week. Storeowner Mike Salem also operates a Jersey Mike’s in Willoughby as well as three local tanning salons. He will celebrate his new ties with Chardon when he holds a grand opening on Wed., Nov. 12.
The store, located at 209 Center St. in the Washington Post Center, is hosting a 5-day fundraiser for Chardon High School. Customers who donate $1 to the charity will receive a free regular sub through Sun., Nov. 16.
“As a long-time multi-franchise owner, I’ve learned that good community relations are the foundation of a solid business,” Salem said. “I’m looking forward to carrying on the tradition of being involved in the local community and couldn’t have found a better place to start than with Chardon High.”
Andy Fetchik, Chardon High School principal, said the funds raised would be put to good use not just for the school but also for the entire community. “Our student council just began an initiative to raise funds for an outdoor electronic marquis to announce upcoming events and important dates. Our school is the hub for many local events in the community, so the marquis should benefit everyone in Chardon. We’re very pleased Jersey Mike’s is offering its support,” he said.
According to Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
“This is Mike Salem’s second Jersey Mike’s store and he has shown he knows how to run a successful business,” said Cancro. “Certainly, a key to that success has been Mike’s involvement in the community.
We applaud Mike’s commitment to giving back.”
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (Sundays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). You can contact this store directly at (440) 286-2030.
