Fierce Competition as the Two Schools Face Off To Raise Money for Their Teams

The February 6th game between the Vista Murrieta Broncos and the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will have more than a Southwestern League win or loss on the line. Jersey Mike’s two locations in Murrieta had a competition to see which school could raise more money for their teams.

In addition to the general fundraiser that brings in funds for both school basketball teams, Jersey Mike’s is giving away an additional $500 bonus check for the team that raised the most money during the competition.  Can Murrieta Valley with 1,000 less students compete with the mighty Bronco student body?

The brainchild of Murrieta’s Jersey Mike’s owners Laurie and Tanya Ilic, the fundraiser lasted from January 20th through the 24th. Both teams handed out coupons for Regular priced Sub sandwiches for $3 at games, school events and to friends and family. The coupons were good for any regular size sandwich for only $3! Jersey Mike’s donated the entire $3 of the purchase directly to the schools.

Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s has been giving back to the community since they first opened. Even their cups say “Giving: making a difference in someone’s life”.  The Ilic’s have embraced this philosophy and have been active in raising money for various schools. The next fundraiser is scheduled for Elsinore’s track and field team in April.

Both teams look to cash in but the big question running through every one’s minds right now is who will win that $500 bonus check for raising the most money in the Basketball fundraiser. Will it be the huge student body from Vista Murrieta or the fierce and determined Nighthawks?

Come and find out Thursday April 6 at Murrieta Valley when the two teams clash on the court and in the fundraising arena. Game time is 7pm.

By the way, the sandwiches are incredible.
