Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Birmingham on December 4. Franchise owners Robert Middleton, Bill Biga, and Carl Chandler held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, December 4 to Sunday, December 8 to support Birmingham Covington School and the Seaholm High School Athletic Booster Club.
The new restaurant, located at 33745 Woodward Avenue, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Birmingham Covington School and the Seaholm High School Athletic Booster Club. Customers presented the fundraising coupon to participate.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Middleton, Biga, and Chandler exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
”We are very excited to be opening our next Jersey Mike’s Subs on Michigan’s iconic Woodward Avenue in the wonderful city of Birmingham,” said Middleton. “Our Original Italian sub, the Number 13, is a classic just like the cars that drive in the legendary Woodward Dream Cruise.”
Biga added, “We are equally excited to be raising money for Seaholm High School and the Birmingham Covington School. We look forward to working with the other schools in Birmingham down the road. It is important to Bob and me that we give back to the communities we serve. This business philosophy is important to us and it is important to the brand.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way® with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
This is the fifth Jersey Mike’s location for Middleton, Biga, and Chandler. In September 2012, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Shelby Township. Middleton, Biga, and Chandler are the owners of additional locations in Rochester Hills, Farmington Hills, and Madison Heights.
