Jersey Mike's Subs Tees Up with First Tee To Inspire 200 Local Children
On Saturday, August 9, Chris and Melissa Daniels, who own Jersey Mike's Subs at 9211-12 Tryon St., Charlotte,?will donate free lunch for more than 200 local children at Mooresville Municipal Golf Course. Jersey Mike's also arranged an appearance by inspirational speaker and golfer Dennis Walters.
"It's exciting to be part of a company like Jersey Mike's that takes its commitment to giving back to the community as seriously as Melissa and I?do," said Chris Daniels.? "These kids will have fun and they?will also be inspired?by Dennis Walters who became a trick-shot golfer after an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. The program teaches life lessons as well as golf lessons. ?We hope this encourages kids to reach for their own?dreams."
The lunch is part and parcel of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems national commitment to making a difference in the communities it serves. This summer, Jersey Mike's, in conjunction with The First Tee, will bring a message of hope — and subs — to thousands of underprivileged children through sponsorship of inspirational events throughout the country.
"We are proud to partner with The First Tee, an organization that shares our commitment to America's youth," said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO. ?"Giving back to the community has been a part of Jersey Mike's culture right from the beginning."
Sponsoring events like this is personal for Mr. Cancro who founded Jersey Mike's at age 17, before he was even legally able to slice a sub.? Mr. Cancro credits an important mentor — his football coach — for believing in him and supporting his dreams.? Today, Jersey Mike's has more than 400 locations open and in-development in 26 states coast-to-coast.
"Everyone can benefit from the inspirational stories of others who have overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams," said Mr. Cancro.? "That's what this program is about and we believe in the message of hope these kids will come away with when they listen to Dennis Walters speak."
