Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Long Beach on October 2. Franchise owner Alvaro Garcia held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 2 to Sunday, October 6 to support Mark Twain Elementary School, Carver Elementary School, Emerson Parkside Academy, and Marshall Academy of The Arts.
The new restaurant, located at 3821 Lakewood Boulevard, circulated 2,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Mark Twain Elementary School, Carver Elementary School, Emerson Parkside Academy, and Marshall Academy of The Arts.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Garcia exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“At Jersey Mike’s we are committed to making a difference in the community, “said Garcia. “Working with four of the local schools for our grand opening fundraiser is an opportunity to raise money for student programs and invite customers to try Jersey Mike’s highly authentic product.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way® with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
This is the 14th Jersey Mike’s location for Alvaro Garcia. In June 2011, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s location in Rancho Cucamonga. Garcia also owns Jersey Mike’s locations in Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, La Verne, Glendora, Upland, Marina del Rey, Long Beach, Culver City, and Santa Monica. Most recently, Garcia opened a Jersey Mike’s location in Santa Ana on July 10.
