Special Olympics of North Carolina partners with Jersey Mike's Subs
Special Olympics North Carolina held the 2008 Midsummer Tournament on July 18 - July 20 at three locations in Raleigh and Cary, NC, as well as at the Tennis Center on the campus of North Carolina State University.
For the second year, the Jersey Mike’s Subs Franchisees and staff have given of their time, talent, and subs to support the Special Olympics tournament. “Olivia Laney and the team at Special Olympics are truly passionate about the athletes and the organization’s mission. We are very proud to lend a helping hand and a tasty sub,” said Brenda Smith, Jersey Mike’s Area Director and Franchisee.
"Jersey Mike's has become an important partner of Special Olympics North Carolina. Seven stores in the Raleigh - Cary area worked together to provide more than 1,100 lunches for athletes and coaches participating in our 2008 MidSummer Tournament. This generous contribution added tremendously to our event by providing important budget-relieving support and giving athletes participating in bowling and tennis a wonderful, healthy lunch during competition. Companies like Jersey Mike's make Special Olympics programs possible for children and adults with intellectual disabilities in NC, and we are grateful for their continued support," stated Olivia Laney, Special Olympics Sr. VP of Finance and Resource Development.
“I congratulate our Franchisees in North Carolina for their continued efforts with the Special Olympics organization. They give back to the community throughout the year and this is a perfect example of how much they care,” shared Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s Founder and CEO.
From coast to coast, Jersey Mike’s Franchisees fulfill the 50-year mission of making “the” best sub sandwich and being a philanthropic partner in the communities they serve.
