EAST PEORIA, Ill., Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in East Peoria on September 11. Franchise owners Tony Rubba and G Abu Saba held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, September 11 to Sunday, September 15 to support the East Peoria Firefighters.
The new restaurant, located at 404 W. Washington Street, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the East Peoria Firefighters.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Rubba and Abu Saba exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

This is the third Jersey Mike’s location for Tony Rubba and G Abu Saba. In December 2012 they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Springfield and they opened another in Champaign in March 2013.
