Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, opened its second location in Upland on May 29. Franchise owner Alvaro Garcia held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, May 29 to Sunday, June 2 to support Baldy View Elementary School, Citrus Elementary School, Upland Junior High School, and Pioneer Junior High School.
The new restaurant, located at 367 S. Mountain Avenue, circulated 3,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Baldy View Elementary School, Citrus Elementary School, Upland Junior High School, and Pioneer Junior High School.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Alvaro Garcia exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“At Jersey Mike’s we are committed to making a difference in the community, “said Garcia. “Working with the local schools for our grand opening fundraiser is an opportunity to raise money for our students and invite customers to try Jersey Mike’s highly authentic product.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
This is Alvaro Garcia’s 12th Jersey Mike’s. In June 2011, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s location in Rancho Cucamonga. Garcia also owns Jersey Mike’s locations in Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa, La Verne, Glendora, Upland, Marina del Rey, Long Beach, Culver City, and Santa Monica. Most recently, Garcia opened a Jersey Mike’s location in Buena Park on March 27.
