Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Statesboro on May 15. Franchise owner Chris Brown held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, May 15 to Sunday, May 19 to support Statesboro High School Football.
The new restaurant, located at 721 South Main Street, circulated 7,500 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Statesboro High School Football.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Chris Brown exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“I have anticipated opening a Jersey Mike’s in Statesboro for some time now, and I am looking forward to opening up shop on May 15,” said Brown. “At Jersey Mike’s we are committed to making a difference for local causes and we saw a great opportunity to get involved with the Statesboro High School Football Team. We are hopeful that through our 5 day fundraiser we will be able to raise enough money to help the team buy much needed new helmets for the upcoming season.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
In addition to this new location, Chris Brown is the owner of a Jersey Mike’s location in Bluffton, S.C., and part owner of two locations in Savannah.
