Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Altus on May 1. Franchise owner Tyrone Muldowney held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 5 to support the Altus School district.
The new restaurant, located at 2221 N. Main Street, circulated 5,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Altus Schools.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Tyrone Muldowney exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“I am looking forward to our grand opening here in Altus,” said Muldowney. “This grand opening gives us a chance to partner with Altus Schools for a five day fundraiser to benefit local students. At Jersey Mike’s, we are committed to giving back and I believe there is no better place to start than with our schools and our children.”
Angela Ellis, marketing coordinator for Muldowney, said, “Valerie Roberts the director of public relations at Altus Schools has been an integral part of planning this grand opening fundraiser. We look forward to developing a lasting relationship with the entire Altus community and we appreciate all the support they have given to Jersey Mike’s leading up to grand opening day.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.
This is Muldowney’s second Jersey Mike’s location. In April 2011, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s in Lawton.
