Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, opened its fifth restaurant in Orlando on March 21. Franchise owner Jeff Padgett held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wed., March 21 to Sun., March 25 to support Edgewater High School and Give Kids The World. The fundraising efforts continued Mon., March 26 to Fri., March 31 in extended support of Give Kids The World Village as part of Jersey Mike’s Subs 2nd annual national fundraising campaign March “Month of Giving.”
The new restaurant, located at 2100 Edgewater Drive, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Edgewater High School and Give Kids The World.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall. The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.

“Give Kids The World is a non-profit organization that gives children with life-threatening illnesses the opportunity to experience a joyful, cost-free visit to the Central Florida attractions, and to enjoy the magic of Give Kids The World Village,” he said. “Most importantly, this is an organization that gives these children hope—and a little bit of hope goes a long way with these children.”

This will be Jeff Padgett’s fourth Jersey Mike’s location. Padgett began as an hourly employee in a Greenville, N.C. Jersey Mike’s Subs location while attending college. He advanced to become general manager where he learned many essentials to put him on the path to becoming a multi-unit owner. In October 2007, Padgett opened his first Jersey Mike’s location in Lake Mary, Fla., followed by two more Florida locations in Altamonte Springs in January and July of 2009. Throughout the month of March, Give Kids The World is joining forces with 10 Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants throughout the Orlando area as part of the national “Month of Giving” fundraising campaign to help make a difference in children's lives. The campaign will culminate in the nationwide event, Jersey Mike’s “Make A Difference Day” on Wed., March 28. On that day, Orlando area residents are invited to come in to a local Jersey Mike’s restaurant and enjoy a delicious sub meal. All area Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 50 percent of the day’s sales to Give Kids The World.
