Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Four Diamonds Fund

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

Jersey Mike’s Subs officially opened its doors in State College.  Jersey Mike’s owners, Matt and Kristie Patterson know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on Jan. 18.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 128 S. Allen St., hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Jan. 18 through Sun., Jan. 22, with proceeds supporting Four Diamonds Fund.  Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution.  Thousands of coupons were distributed throughout the community.

Opening a location near the Penn State campus is an especially significant opportunity for Matt and Kristie, both PSU alumni.  The Pattersons chose an organization that is an important cause on campus, and one close to their hearts. Penn State’s annual dance marathon “THON” raises money for The Four Diamonds Fund, a foundation focused on conquering childhood cancer.

“We both danced in THON and have stayed in touch with the cause since graduating from PSU,” said Matt Patterson, “It was only natural to pair up with Four Diamonds Fund, the organization THON supports.”   THON, the largest student-run philanthropy program in the world raises funds to assist children treated at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.

All Jersey Mike’s franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors, and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “We applaud Matt and Kristie’s commitment to the community and on the opening of their first Jersey Mike’s location,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO.

“We are inspired that Jersey Mike’s is so focused on community and mentoring,” said Kristie Patterson.  “It was a perfect fit for us, as we have been looking for a way to give back to a community that has given us so much.”

The Pattersons are excited about the connection their new location has created within the community. “We look forward to being involved with local events, fellow businesses, and providing 30+ jobs in the community, “said Matt Patterson. “We could not be happier with the welcome we have received so far.”
