Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Children’s Organizations At Grand Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

Jersey Mike’s Subs officially opened its doors in La Jolla.  Jersey Mike’s owner, Kevin Kenny along with his brothers David, Patrick and Chris know the importance of community relations and celebrated their ties with the area during the grand opening on Jan. 18.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 7836 Herschel Avenue, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Jan. 18 through Sun., Jan. 22, with proceeds supporting Rivers of Hope Foundation and St. Germaine Children’s Charity.  Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution.  Coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.

“Integrating the children of our community into our fundraising efforts made sense on every level,” said Kevin Kenny.  “We really want to help these kids grow and flourish.” Although the missions of the organizations differ, both center on improving the quality of life for neglected and underprivileged children.

St. Germaine Children’s Charity is a nonprofit committed to stopping child abuse and improving the lives of abused and neglected children in San Diego. St. Germaine supports social service agencies which provide care, shelter and treatment of abused children from birth to age 18.

Rivers of Hope seeks to help unwanted, abandoned and orphaned children find permanent loving homes by developing and coordinating resources and programs to create community awareness, recruit adoptive families, and provide financial aid for adoption and assistance for the foster children and orphans of San Diego.

All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “At Jersey Mike’s, we believe businesses can only reach their full potential when they give back to their communities,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO.  “We congratulate the Kenny Brothers on their commitment to helping those who need it most and on the opening of their newest Jersey Mike’s.”

The Kenny brothers are opening this new restaurant following the tremendous success of their Jersey Mike’s location in Solana Beach, which opened in July 2010.  “Active involvement with the community is an important component of every business venture,” said Kevin Kenny. “We contribute our success and staying power to the unmatched product and service we provide, combined with the ties we have cemented in the San Diego area.”
