Alvaro Garcia opened his fifth Jersey Mike’s Subs location in Southern California in less than a year. The industry powerhouse opened his first location in Rancho Cucamonga on June 29, 2011, followed by three new locations in Fountain Valley, Costa Mesa and most recently, Glendora on November 16, 2011.
The grand opening and free sub fundraiser supported the City of Upland’s Community Services Programs, specifically the Adult Literacy Program and the Build-A-Dream Scholarship Program for underprivileged children. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution.
The new store is located at 1945 N. Campus Ave., Upland, Calif.
On the fundraiser: In support of this event, the Community Services Department of the City of Upland distributed flyers at all City buildings, local churches, the Chamber of Commerce, service clubs and private schools. The event was also advertised on Channel 3 of the local cable network.
All Jersey Mike’s franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
On Jersey Mike’s: Garcia has proven his commitment to the communities he serves through his number of successful past openings. “Having the opportunity to be part of a business so focused on giving back has made all the work worth it,” he said.
