Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Local High School at Grand Opening

Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its third store in Orlando.  Jersey Mike’s owners Sean Gillespie and Adam Babroski know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on February 9, 2011.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 3402 Technological Ave., in the University Shoppes Center,  hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., February 9 through Sun., February 13, with proceeds supporting the University High School.  Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution.  More than 5,000 coupons were distributed throughout the community.

“We believe in supporting the development of students in our community,” said Babroski.  “University High School is a great institution and we look forward to joining them to help area students reach their full potential.” University High School strives to provide a rigorous and relevant high school experience with the character, climate, culture and curricula of a high-quality college or university. The Latin phrase, “Contio Laureata,” exemplifies its University philosophy: Each classroom is “An assembly of honored scholars.”

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission.  All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.  “We believe every Jersey Mike’s has a responsibility to its local community,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO.  “Sean and Adam will make a real difference in Orlando with their commitment to giving back.  We wish them every success, and congratulate them on opening their first Jersey Mike’s Subs.”

“One day I walked into Jersey Mike's Subs and tasted the Original #13 and loved it so much I called my longtime friend Adam.  We had worked together at Enterprise Rent A Car and always talked about owning our own business,” said Gillespie.  “Within 3 weeks we were meeting with local Area Directors and now we are opening our first Jersey Mike’s Subs.”

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday–Sunday. You can contact this store directly at (407) 286-1336.
