Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds for Two Local Schools at Grand Opening
Owners Celebrate with Free Subs
Jersey Mike's Subs opened its first store in Orange. Jersey Mike's owners Ed Castaneda and Naida Castro know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on Dec. 15.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1545 E. Katella Avenue in the Tuskatella Center, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Dec. 15 through Sun., Dec. 19, with proceeds supporting Villa Park High School and Orange High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 contribution. More than 7,500 coupons were distributed throughout the community.
"We chose the two local high schools as our recipients because we believe in supporting the education of our country's future leadership," said Castaneda. "Training our future leaders is also very much in line with our company philosophy. Both Naida's son and my two sons will be involved in the management of our stores."
Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "We congratulate Ed and Naida for opening this new restaurant," said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems. "By supporting organizations like Villa Park High School and Orange High School, they are demonstrating their commitment to the youth of Orange."
"My sister and business partner, Naida Castro, and I decided to join Jersey Mike's because we believe it has the best product of its kind," said Castaneda. "We also personally value and agree with Jersey Mike's commitment to giving back to the community."
"Our family is very thankful to have the opportunity to open our second Jersey Mike's location, this time in the City of Orange," said Castro. "The City's staff has been part of our team from planning, to development, to completion. Everyone has been very supportive and truly professional in every aspect. We look forward to serving the City of Orange." Castro and Castaneda also operate a Jersey Mike's store in Laguna Woods.
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. You can contact this store directly at (714) 289-9300.
