First Place - Jersey Mike's Subs

Jersey Mike’s has been turning out its brand of sandwiches for quite a long time — probably much longer than Xpress-reading whipper-snappers have even been alive.  The first Jersey Mike’s opened in 1956, just a tiny sandwich shop in the seaside community of Point Pleasant, N.J.  We suppose that’s plenty of time to perfect a method — and given that Xpress readers keep voting Jersey Mike’s Best Sandwich Shop in WNC, you do, too.

But when it comes to your sandwiches, do you know how to order the right way?  Manager Matt Elsea of Jersey Mike’s on Merrimon Avenue wants us to tell you to say “yes” whenever you are asked the following: "Would you like that Mike’s Way?"
What on earth does that mean, you ask? "That’s our signature thing and how we want everyone to order their sandwich," says Elsea. "That’s what sets us apart from everyone else."

What is Mike’s Way?  It means stacked, says Elsea, with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive-oil blend and spices.  However you order it, says Elsea, rest assured that the bread is fresh, the meats are top notch and the cheese is of premium quality.
