Greenville Family Partnership & Jersey Mike’s Subs Team Up For Red Ribbon Week

Greenville County Students With Red Ribbons Offered Free Mini Subs on Oct. 28

Jersey Mike’s Subs six restaurants in Greenville County are joining forces to support Greenville Family Partnership’s (GFP) Red Ribbon Week from Oct. 23-31.  During that time, all six Jersey Mike’s stores will accept donations in support of GFP’s mission to keep kids off tobacco, alcohol, drugs and other harmful substances by educating and partnering with families and communities.

On Red Ribbon Day, Thurs. Oct. 28, the stores will offer a free mini sub to any Greenville County student turning in a GFP Red Ribbon. The Greenville Jersey Mike’s stores have donated 50,000 red ribbons with logos to GFP and they are being distributed throughout schools in the area.

“This is a very important cause and we are committed to supporting Greenville Family Partnership and the great work it does educating our kids and building awareness about substance abuse,” said Dave Bockstahler, Jersey Mike’s Subs South Carolina area director. “We want to encourage kids to wear their ribbons and enjoy a free mini sub on October 28.  More importantly, we’re hoping their parents will come into one of our stores and pick up a ribbon to wear in solidarity with their kids and make a donation to support the campaign.”

The Jersey Mike’s Subs store located at 233 North Main Street will also host a Red Ribbon Celebration on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.  Students from local schools will attend the festivities, which will include a display of posters drawn by Greenville youth and a brief presentation about Red Ribbon Week.

“It is very important for our community to celebrate Red Ribbon Week,” said Carol Reeves, Director of Greenville Family Partnership.  “When youth see business, families and the greater community coming together in such a way, they will be encouraged to make decisions to live healthy and drug-free lifestyles.”

Jersey Mike’s Subs is also sponsoring GFP’s Red Ribbon Poster Contest.  Posters from participating schools will be displayed in local Jersey Mike’s Sub stores where customers will vote on a winner from that store. One winner will be chosen from each participating store and will receive a free family meal. These winners will then be voted on at the November 11th meeting of Greenville Safe Communities Coalition to pick the Grand Prize Winner, who will receive $100 and a free sub party for the classroom of the winning poster.

The six Jersey Mike’s Subs Stores participating are located in Greer at 1311-A W. Wade Hampton Blvd., in Simpsonville at 325 Harrison Bridge Road and Greenville at:  233 North Main Street, 215 Pelham Road, 1507 Woodruff Road, and 53-A East Antrim Drive.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
