Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Local High Schools At Grand Opening

Owners Celebrate with Free Subs

Jersey Mike’s Subs opened its first store in Elmhurst.  Jersey Mike’s owners Susan Klein and Christie Baines know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on August 25.

To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 297 N. York Rd., hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Aug. 25 through Sun., Aug. 29, with proceeds supporting York Community High School and Immaculate Conception High School.  Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation.  Coupons were distributed throughout the community.

“We believe that education is extremely important and want to support our local schools. Both schools are very involved with the community and being as active in the community as Jersey Mike’s is - the fit was perfect for us,” said Susan Klein.

York Community High School’s mission is to meet the educational needs of all students, challenging each to his or her full potential and ensuring a foundation for future success in life. Immaculate Conception High School inspires students to live the Catholic faith in service to their school and community. The community offers endless opportunities, so the young men and women are well prepared to confidently face life’s challenges, enabling them to live meaningful lives and make a positive difference in the world. “We share that commitment to our local children and invite the community in to help us raise funds to support both schools’ good work.  We look forward to getting to know our neighbors,” said Klein.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike’s mission.  All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “When you are an active contributor to the community it shows,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO.  “Susan Klein and Christie Baines are truly committed to helping the children of Elmhurst reach their full potential. We congratulate them and wish them well on their third store.”

“We are really enjoying the Jersey Mike’s concept – fresh and delicious subs with a healthy dose of sincere customer service.  Opening three restaurants in ten months has been an exciting challenge. We can’t wait to open more,” said Baines.  To bring it all full circle both of their husbands will be working at the Jersey Mike’s in Elmhurst.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday - Sunday. You can contact this store directly at (630) 576-2000.
