Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises 50k For Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer

Month Of Fundraising Capped Off by “Wipe Out Kids' Cancer Day”

Thousands of people showed up to help Jersey Mike's Subs restaurants throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area raise $50,000 for Wipe Out Kids' Cancer (WOKC).  The money was raised during a month-long campaign beginning on Valentine's Day and ending with a citywide community fundraising event on March 12 dubbed "Jersey Mike's Wipe Out Kids' Cancer Day."  WOKC is a local Dallas non-profit organization with the vision of a day in which all children are living cancer free.

Eleven participating Jersey Mike's stores contributed 25 cents for each regular sub and 50 cents for each giant sub sold. Additionally, special donation buckets were placed in each store for customers to offer their own contributions.   On "Wipe Out Kids' Cancer Day," Jersey Mike's customers were offered a free regular sub for donating $1 to the charity, but showing great support, they averaged $6.50 per sub in donations that day.

"We were blown away by our customers' generosity this past month and we can't thank them enough for coming out and showing their support for this great cause," said Dalton Stewart, the Dallas franchisee who initiated the partnership with WOKC.  "The final event was great fun at all our stores and we know the money we raised is going to make a difference."

To support the cause, many local VIPs showed up to help the Jersey Mike's teams at participating stores.  Local celebs included popular radio personality Norm Hitzges and the BaD Radio crew from The Ticket Sports Radio, John David Wells from KLIF Talk Radio's "The Wells Report," Josh Hart from MIX 102.9, Randy James from Lone Star 92.5, Dallas DJ Bill Cody, basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, State Congressman Allen Vaught, seven area mayors, and many more.

"Wipe Out Kids' Cancer has been touched beyond measure by the generosity of Jersey Mike's, a grand company with a big heart, and the kindness of our North Texas brethren as we have collectively crusaded to eradicate pediatric cancer," said Cindy Brinker Simmons, founder of Wipe Out Kids' Cancer.  "This past month has been great fun and displays the magnificent spirit of people who want to invest in the lives of our young heroes with cancer.  WOW!"
