Jersey Mike's Subs restaurants throughout the Greater Atlanta area are joining forces in a month-long campaign to benefit Bert's Big Adventure, a local Atlanta non-profit organization founded by Q100 morning radio show host Bert Weiss and his wife Stacey. Bert's Big Adventure provides a spectacular five-day journey to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families. To support the charity, Jersey Mike's stores in the state will donate $1 for every #13 sub sold throughout the month of March.
"The Greater Atlanta Jersey Mike's Co-op is committed to helping Bert and Stacey with the tremendous work they are doing," said Steve Minnich, co-area director and franchisee with business partner, Jeff Sponsler. "We've watched them expand their goals from a 5-day vacation for deserving kids to also offering year-round support for current and former families. At Jersey Mike's we believe in that kind of commitment to community and we are thrilled to be able to help. We know we can make a huge difference with the support of our generous customers."
Thirty-two area Jersey Mike's stores will participate in the fundraiser, selling as many of the most popular Jersey Mike's sub as they can. The #13 is the Original Italian with an assortment of Italian meats and cheeses, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, done Mike's Way with red wine vinegar, olive oil and spices. Local Jersey Mike's stores banded together for a similar program a few years back and raised more than $20,000 for the Children's Hospital of Atlanta.
"We are really excited about this partnership. Jersey Mike's genuinely understands and believes in the Bert's Big Adventure mission, and their support throughout this month-long campaign is going to be huge for us," said Weiss.
Every year since 2003 Bert's Big Adventure has taken deserving kids with chronic and terminal illnesses and their families to Walt Disney World in Orlando. To date, 85 families have enjoyed the magical trip and the mission of the charity has grown to include additional support including quarterly reunions adventures in the metro Atlanta area.
Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.
Jersey Mike's, a sub sandwich franchise with more than 450 stores open and under development nationwide, has a long history of community involvement and support.
