Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Miracle League Of San Diego At Grand Opening
Jersey Mike's Subs opened its third location in the San Diego area. Partners Cathy Brown and Steve Leonard know the importance of community relations and celebrated their ties with the area during the grand opening on February 10, 2010.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 3670 Rosecrans Street in Point Loma, is hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., February 10 through Sun., February 14, with proceeds supporting the Miracle League of San Diego. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular size sub with a minimum $1 donation. Coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.
"The Miracle League of San Diego is a local non-profit that gives children with disabilities a chance to play baseball as part of a team in an organized league," said Brown. "It is such a worthwhile organization and we welcome our new neighbors to come in and enjoy a free sub to support the kids in our community."
Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. "After seeing Cathy and Steve in action with their other San Diego stores, I know the Point Loma community will love their enthusiasm, focus on quality and devotion to giving back to their community," said Peter Cancro, the founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's.
Cathy and Steve come to Jersey Mike's with diverse backgrounds that complement each other. Steve has a long history of working in the quick service restaurant world and was a multi-unit operator in the San Diego area for many years. Previously, Cathy was a rocket scientist, math teacher and also an active volunteer with groups such as Children's Hospital, her church, her children's schools, as well as the area's largest competitive soccer league. On top of being franchise owners, they are Area Directors in charge of developing Jersey Mike's stores in the San Diego, Riverside, & San Bernardino markets.
Many items attracted Cathy and Steve to Jersey Mike's. At the top of the list were the product and experience. "We are so proud of this product - Jersey Mike's wins best sub awards in virtually every market we enter," said Brown. "Tasting is believing and we invite the Point Loma community in to find out for themselves."
Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (619) 221-0200.
