Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds for Local Schools at Grand Opening

Owner Celebrates with Free Subs

Jersey Mike's Subs officially opened its doors in Aurora, IL.  Jersey Mike's owner, Mark Cross, knows the importance of community involvement and celebrated his ties with the area when he held his grand opening on December 16.  This is Cross' second Jersey Mike's Subs location in the Chicagoland area.  The other is located in Naperville at the Springbrook Prairie Pavilion (in front of Whole Foods) at 2555 W. 75th Street.

To commemorate the new restaurant, located in the Ashton Pointe Shopping Center (in front of Jewel) at 1147 N. Eola Road, a 7-day fundraiser was held from Wednesday, Dec. 16 through Tuesday, Dec. 22, with proceeds supporting Metea Valley High School Athletic Booster Club, Granger Middle School, Brooks Elementary School, Young Elementary School and Longwood Elementary School.  Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution.  Coupons were distributed throughout the schools and community.

"I completely admire and respect the philosophy and mission of School Districts 203 & 204 as they are amongst the very best in the country," said Mark Cross.  "I take great pride in being able to give back to the schools where my stores are located and look forward to partnering with each of them as we serve the world's greatest sandwich experience to everyone!  I feel a responsibility to support the community that has already given so much to me."

One hundred percent of the contributions raised during the grand opening will go directly to the schools. "We plan to hand out more than 1,000 free sub coupons to each school and when redeemed at the new store on Eola Road, customers are asked to make a minimum $1 donation to that school," said Cross.

Reaching out to the community is a key component of Jersey Mike's mission. All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well.  "Mark Cross understands that his success goes hand-in-hand with the well-being of the local community," said Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike's Franchise Systems.  "Mark is a unique individual; his personal mission is focused on encouraging the young people in the community to seize each opportunity presented to them, to be the best they can be and reach their full potential.  Mark volunteers his time as a local high school varsity football coach because of his love of the game and the kids. We congratulate Mark Cross on embracing the community and opening his second store."

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.  You can contact this store directly at (630) 499-5110.
