To celebrate the opening of Jersey Mike's Subs, the fast growing East-coast sub sandwich phenomenon, in Northridge (19350 Nordhoff Street at Tampa & Nordhoff, next to Best Buy), phone: (818) 886-5800 and to welcome owner Lloyd Weintraub into the Chamber of Commerce, the North Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce performed ribbon cutting ceremony on June 24, 2009 at 3:00 pm.
Weintraub, a former television producer and long time resident of the north valley, is thrilled to see the reaction the subs are getting from the community. 'Each day I am greeted by a first time visitor to the store and told that this is the best sub they have ever tasted,' said Weintraub. 'What can be better than that?'
Weintraub, who started in the entertainment industry as a theatrical agent in New York, said he always had a more than casual flirtation with the food service business. After 25 years working as a studio development executive with MGM, Viacom, Rastar, and Vin Di Bona Productions; a television producer (Chicken Soup for the Soul, For The Love Of Nancy, and George Washington miniseries) and talent agent, Weintraub decided to do something different.
A self described 'foodie,' Weintraub said he was instantly smitten when he discovered Jersey Mike's Subs. 'I was intrigued when I stopped by to try a sandwich and there was a line out the door,' said Weintraub. 'Then I saw the faces of the various customers waiting in line and watching as their subs were being made in front of them. By the time it was my turn, and I tasted the sub, I was sold. I knew what my next production would be.'
These days, Lloyd Weintraub can be found at the Northridge store greeting his customers and observing their hungry faces as they eagerly watch the production of their next meal. Hey, what can be better than that!"
