Jersey Mike's Subs Raises Funds For Susan G. Komen For The Cure At Grand Opening
Jersey Mike’s Subs will officially open its doors for the first time in downtown Nashville next week. Jersey Mike’s owner Chris Herndon will celebrate his growing ties with Nashville as part of his grand opening on Wed., Mar. 18. This is Herndon’s third Jersey Mike’s store in Nashville. The others are located on Whitebridge Rd. and in the Bellevue Shopping Center on Highway 70.
To commemorate the grand opening, the new restaurant, located at 211 Union St. in the historic Stahlman Building, is hosting a 4-day fundraiser to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Greater Nashville. Anyone who has a fundraising coupon can get a free regular sub for a $1 donation from Mar. 18 through Mar. 21. Coupons are being distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.
“Anyone whose family has been touched by breast cancer knows the importance of organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” Herndon said. “The more people who come out and enjoy a free sub, the more money will go to fighting breast cancer. It’s also a great way for us to meet the people in our community so we hope to greet many new neighbors during the fundraiser.”
In 1998, Herndon was hired on the spot by Peter Cancro, founder and CEO of Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, and soon after was operating the franchise’s Nashville area corporate stores. In 2001, Herndon bought two of the stores to run independently.
“I could see immediately that Chris had tremendous potential,” Cancro said. “He’s lived up to that and more with his strong sense of community and excellent work skills. We know he will make a great success of this new store in downtown Nashville.”
Herndon (31) and his wife, Danielle, have three children, Jacob (10), John (7) and Abigail (3).
“I actually first met Peter Cancro while waiting for a free sub at the Whitebridge store, so I know firsthand that good things come from these fundraisers,” Herndon said.
Store hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Mon. to Fri. and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturdays, closed Sundays. Contact this store at (615) 891-3750.
