Local Jersey Mike's Subs Stores Donates $10,000 To Big Brothers Big Sisters

The 17 Jersey Mike’s Subs stores in Monmouth and Ocean Counties recently donated $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County. Pictured here surrounded by store owners, Jim Van Nostrand, local co-op president (on left holding check) presents a check to Barry Weshnak, President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County. “Our stores employ many young adults and we believe strongly in mentoring,” said Van Nostrand., who owns a Jersey Mike’s in Point Pleasant. “Big Brothers Big Sisters is a recognized leader in mentoring.”

Big Brother Big Sister of Monmouth County prides itself in being the premier one-to-one volunteer mentoring agency in Monmouth County, celebrating our 32nd year of service to over 6,000 children in our community since 1976, with over 200 children served in 2008.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Monmouth County is to make a positive difference in the lives of children, who are facing emotional, social, and academic challenges. Through professionally-supported relationships with a caring adult Big Brothers Big Sisters assists the children in achieving their highest potential as they grow to become confident, competent and caring individuals.
