Direct from the Jersey Shore: Jersey Mike's Subs Opens in Midtown
Free Sub Fundraiser Supports Citymeals-on-Wheels
April 29, 2014 • New York, NY
Dreaming of sun and sand? To the rescue: Jersey Mike's Subs, an iconic Jersey Shore institution offering authentic fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened a second Manhattan location on April 29, at 938 3rd Ave. (56th & 3rd), just blocks from Bloomingdale’s.
Franchise Owner and Area Director Henry Gallo held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Tuesday, April 29, to Sunday, May 4 to support Citymeals-on-Wheels, a non-profit organization that provides meals and companionship to homebound elderly New Yorkers. The new restaurant circulated 12,000 vouchers and business cards throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to Citymeals-on-Wheels. Customers must present the fundraising voucher to participate.
“We are excited about bringing another Jersey Mike’s Subs to Manhattan, especially Midtown,” said Gallo. “One of our customers downtown asked, ‘Why is everyone so happy?’ and that captures the Jersey Mike’s experience right there – we love our customers and want each and every one to walk away with a smile and a fantastic sub sandwich.”
Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. A 2014 Technomic report ranked Jersey Mike’s in the top five fastest-growing restaurant chains with sales above $200 million.
The growth is fueled by passionate Jersey Mike’s fans who crave their subs made Mike’s Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of “the juice” – red wine vinegar and olive oil blended to perfection. Jersey Mike’s premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, piled high on in-store baked bread and served up with a helping of neighborly banter from a dedicated and high-energy team.
The first Jersey Mike’s location in Manhattan opened July 30 at 80 Maiden Lane at the corner of Gold Street in the Financial District. So far, Gallo says the top 3 sellers are: #13 The Original Italian, #7 Turkey Breast and Provolone and #43 Chipotle Cheese Steak with Chicken.
Gallo is an exemplary Jersey Mike’s franchise owner who shares the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“With our generous customers, we have raised more than $20,000 for Citymeals-on-Wheels since we opened downtown in late July and we know our new friends in Midtown will be as passionate about supporting the work of this important organization,” said Gallo.
The 2,250 square foot restaurant, with its striking Jersey Shore images, goose neck lamps and mounted surfboard, will be slightly tailored for an urban feel and offer additional lines to service the lunch rush efficiently. Additionally, the restaurant will feature a greeter or host, who brings the company’s trademark friendly banter to guests. The new location will serve breakfast in addition to lunch and dinner, and will add delivery service shortly. The new location also offers catering.
Store hours are Monday through Friday from 7am-10pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am-9pm. You can contact this store directly at 646.781.9687.
