East Coast Sub Sensation Opens First Fort Wayne Location

Owners Celebrate Grand Opening with Free Subs

September 4, 2013 • Fort Wayne, IN

FORT WAYNE, Ind. Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Fort Wayne on August 28.  Franchise owners Lee Pines and Peter Lieffring held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, August 28 to Sunday, September 1 to support Homestead High School Athletic Department and Canterbury School Athletic Department.

The new restaurant, located at 6408 W. Jefferson Boulevard, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Homestead High School and Canterbury School.  Half of these 10,000 coupons were designated for donations to Homestead High School with the other half being designated for donations to Canterbury School.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Pines and Lieffring exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community.  Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“Pete and I have been best friends for nearly 30 years and when we decided to go into business together, Jersey Mike’s was an obvious choice,” said Pines.  “This new career as a restaurant owner and operator has been a welcome change in lifestyle for me and my family and we are looking forward to opening our doors and giving back in this great community.

“For our grand opening fundraiser we will be supporting the athletic departments at Homestead High School and Canterbury School.  It is important to us to make a difference in the place where we do business and we hope to make a great impact for the student athletes at Homestead and Canterbury,” Pines said.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices.  The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread.  Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago.  The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is the first Jersey Mike’s location for Pines and Lieffring.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (260) 434-9300.
