Working together with The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Jersey Mike’s Subs has raised $106,657 to support The FoodBank’s relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  Donations from Jersey Mike’s franchise owners, team members and customers throughout the country were accepted at Jersey Mike’s nearly 600 locations following the storm.

“It is heartening to see how Jersey Mike’s customers and local store owners throughout the nation have reached out to support those at the Jersey Shore who have been affected by, and are still trying to recover from, this terrible storm,” said Executive Director Carlos M. Rodriguez.  “Jersey Mike’s has been a longtime friend of The FoodBank and we are grateful for this donation during this important time of rebuilding.”

In addition to collecting donations, Jersey Mike’s restaurants in New Jersey collected and delivered nonperishable food and toiletry items for The FoodBank in the aftermath of the hurricane. Jersey Mike’s team members and their families made and delivered well over 7,500 subs, chips and waters to displaced and hungry residents, soup kitchens, and shelters, as well as to first responders and volunteers.

“To see the devastation that has taken place at our beloved Jersey Shore has been heartbreaking, and yet it has also been inspiring to see our community coming together seeking out those in need and helping out,” said Jersey Mike’s Founder and CEO Peter Cancro. “We couldn’t do it without The FoodBank and we’re very grateful for the work they do.”
