East Coast Sub Sensation Opened First Location In Gainesville

Owners Celebrated Grand Opening with Free Subs

June 7, 2012 • Gainesville, FL

Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Gainesville on May 23.  Franchise owners Kimberly and Angelo Crowell held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wed., May 23 to Sun., June 3 to support Stop! Children’s Cancer.

Stop! Children’s Cancer, Inc. is a local non-profit organization committed to the prevention, control and cure of cancer in children through funding of pediatric research.  All funding goes toward basic research, research scholars, and research equipment at the Divisions of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.

The new restaurant, located at 2015 N.W. 43rd Street, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community which offered a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Stop! Children’s Cancer.  Half of these 10,000 coupons were valid through May 27 with the other half valid through June 3.  Additional offers were also be available in the Gainesville Sun.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike’s continued its steady growth in 2011 opening 69 new restaurants throughout the country, a 15 percent increase overall.  The popular sub shop wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.

Kimberly and Angelo Crowell exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community.  In 2011, locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“It has always been important to us to serve our local community, and Jersey Mike’s has given us the fantastic opportunity to do so with this grand opening,” said Kimberly Crowell.  “Through our partnership with Stop! Children’s Cancer we are able to raise money for a worthy cause and introduce Jersey Mike’s to the Gainesville community.”

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices.  The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread.  Everything is quickly made to order for each customer.  The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is the third Jersey Mike’s location for the Crowells.  In November 2010, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Tallahassee at 1801 West Tennessee Street and in May 2011 went on to open another Tallahassee location at 1355 Market Street.
