Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Local Schools At Grand Opening
Owners Celebrate with Free Subs
February 15, 2012 • Glendale, CA
Jersey Mike’s Subs officially opened its doors in Glendale. Jersey Mike’s owners, Richard and George Elmassian, know the importance of community relations and celebrated their ties with the area during the grand opening on Feb. 15.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 813 Americana Way, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Feb. 15 through Sun., Feb.19, with proceeds supporting Glenoaks Elementary School, Glendale High School and Herbert Hoover High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. More than 10,000 coupons and flyers were distributed throughout the community and in the school systems.
The father and son team are sparking excitement by upping their contributions to each school. In addition to the fundraising potential, the Elmassians will contribute an additional $500 to each school. “As local business owners, we feel it is our responsibility to support our schools,” said George Elmassian. “These students are the future of our community.” With this fundraising effort, the Elmassians hope to enable the mission of the schools -- “to encourage a collaborative community of students to be critical thinkers dedicated to excellence.”
All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “Richard and George Elmassian understand that their success goes hand in hand with the well-being of the local community,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “They want to see the students of this community reach their potential and fundraisers like this will help. We congratulate Richard and George on their commitment and on their new store.”
“We began our journey with Jersey Mike’s on a foundation of unbeatably fresh ingredients and unmatched customer service,” said Richard Elmassian. “We look forward to sharing their passion for the brand with a great community.”
“The Americana location is an ideal destination for Jersey Mike’s. It has a wonderful diversity of customers and a family-friendly environment,” said Richard Elmassian.
