Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Arlington High School at Grand Opening
Owners Celebrate with Free Subs
December 15, 2011 • Arlington, WA
Jersey Mike’s Subs officially opened its doors in Arlington. Jersey Mike’s owners, Barbara and Brian Zelmer know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on December 14.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 3704 172nd Street NE, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Dec. 14 through Sun., Dec. 18, with proceeds supporting Arlington High School. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. Thirty five hundred coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.
“With the declining economy, one of the first and most often hit areas of decreased funding is education” said Brian Zelmer. “Ultimately the one that suffers most is the student. It’s disheartening to hear about an activity that has been discontinued due to budget cuts. Barbara and I hope to encourage the students and the community to support Arlington High School starting with our grand opening fundraiser.”
All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “Our franchisees can only succeed when they are an active part of the local community,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “By getting involved with the local high school, Brian and Barbara Zelmer are demonstrating their commitment to the community. We congratulate the Zelmers on their first location.”
Barbara and Brian Zelmer were first introduced to Jersey Mike’s by their two sons who are devoted Jersey Mike’s fans. “After our first taste, we were hooked,” said Brian Zelmer, whose favorite sub is the #56 - the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak.
The Zelmers are eager to open shop in the city of Arlington. “It’s a thriving city with a small town feeling – just like Jersey Mike’s Subs. Jersey Mike’s stands behind its product and reputation and so do we,” said Barbara Zelmer, whose favorite sub is the #9 Club Supreme.
