Jersey Mike’s Subs Raises Funds For Two Organizations at Grand Opening
Owners Celebrate with Free Subs
December 15, 2011 • Columbus, GA
Jersey Mike’s Subs officially opened its doors in Columbus. Jersey Mike’s owners, Bill and Josie Swecker know the importance of community relations and celebrated their new ties with the area during their grand opening on December 14.
To commemorate the event, the new restaurant, located at 1640 Rollins Way, hosted a 5-day fundraiser from Wed., Dec., 14 through Sun., Dec., 18, with proceeds supporting Feeding the Valley of Columbus and Army Community Service Support Fund of Fort Benning. Anyone who had a fundraising coupon received a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution. Ten thousand coupons were distributed throughout the community and in local newspapers.
“It was essential to Josie and me to support organizations that were positively impacting overlooked members of our community,” said Bill Swecker. “We’re proud to give to a food bank dedicated to compassion, good stewardship, dedication, urgency and inclusiveness like Feeding the Valley.”
The Sweckers have also partnered with the Army Community Service (ACS) Support Fund of Fort Benning which ensures the well-being of volunteers, family members and soldiers of Fort Benning by assisting in the provision of activities, services and necessities of the military community. “We simply cannot do enough to support our armed forces and their families,” said Josie Swecker.
All franchise owners find ways to support their neighbors and employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents as well. “Bill and Josie Swecker’s commitment to their community is inspiring,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO. “When we give back to the communities we serve, everyone benefits. We congratulate Bill and Josie on their new store and applaud their community service.”
Celebrating their opening, Bill and Josie Swecker are proud to represent the values of Jersey Mike’s in all aspects of their business. Their sense of community is not only reflected in their choice of charities, but seen in their home life as well. They are very proud that three of their four children will be helping with the restaurant. Nineteen year-old sons, Grant and Cole Swecker, will be working behind the counter at the new location, while 23 year-old daughter, Kendall Swecker, will lend her talents to the marketing side of the business. This business minded and community oriented family is a welcome addition to the community of Columbus.
