Jersey Mike’s Subs Celebrates One Year at OKC Location with Wounded Warrior Project Fundraiser
Two Day Celebration Includes Silent Auction, Car Show and More
August 31, 2010 • Oklahoma City, OK
Oklahoma City Jersey Mike’s Subs Franchisees Alex and Sonia Shelton celebrated the first anniversary of their 6815 SW 3rd Street location with two days of fun highlighted by a “Donate the Day” fundraiser on behalf of Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) on Thurs. Sept. 9. That day, the Sheltons handed out free regular subs to customers who gave a minimum $1 donation to this important organization, which helps our nation’s injured service members. The Sheltons operate a second store at 1630 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City.
“Our goal was to make this event so successful we can repeat it every year,” said Alex Shelton. “We are donating our day’s subs and we are asking that everyone come in with a generous heart and support this tremendous cause. While the minimum contribution is $1, we are hoping that people will give what they would have paid for the sub so we can raise as much money as possible.”
Additional celebrations took place on that day and Friday, September 10 including a 2-day silent auction at the store, with proceeds going to WWP. Friday also featured a “Show and Shine” car show with music and remote broadcast by Oklahoma City’s Classic Rock station 107.7 KRXO and a drawing of great items donated by local businesses. Customers were invited to come and show off their favorite cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles.
WWP Executive Director Steve Nardizzi commented, “On behalf of the thousands of injured service members, we want to thank Jersey’s Mike Subs in Oklahoma City for its dedication to our nation’s heroes. Your commitment is helping ensure the tremendous personal sacrifices made by our service men and women are not forgotten.”
The silent auction took place at the store from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and again on Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The “Show and Shine” car show and drawing took place in the restaurant parking lot from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday.
