Jersey Mike’s Subs & Wreaths Across America Raise Awareness and Funds

August 11, 2010 • Point Pleasant Beach, NJ

Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants and Wreaths Across America (WAA) teamed up to celebrate Christmas in July from coast to coast last month, raising awareness and important funds.  In the photo above middle, Jersey Mike's founder and CEO Peter Cancro presents a check for $35,000 to Wreaths Across America executive director Karen Worcester and her husband and WAA founder Morrill Worcester. On the far left are daughter Molly Worcester and grandson Duke Slaven who made the trip down from Maine.  With this important contribution, the non-profit organization, which lays thousands of wreaths at the graves of the nation’s veterans in the Christmas season, will significantly increase the number of wreaths it placed last year.  During the 2009 holiday season, 160,000 wreaths were placed on the graves of fallen vets at 412 locations throughout the nation including Arlington National Cemetery. The wreath laying is held annually on the second Saturday of December and Jersey Mike’s Subs will be there to lend a helping hand.  Wreaths Across America’s ongoing mission is:  Remember the fallen; Honor those who serve and their families; and Teach our children the value of freedom.
